The long awaited Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for Rogers' LG Optimus 3D is finally due to arrive tomorrow. New customers who'll buy an Optimus 3D will get it with the latest software version preloaded, so they won't have to go through the hassle of updating as soon as possible. After the update, your LG Optimus 3D will run Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread (software version V20).

Why Education Technologies Can Have The Biggest Impact On Student Learning

When a student decides on a course of study, whether it is at undergraduate or post-graduate levels or adult learning, there are a number of considerations to be made. Cost, duration of study, accessibility, materials and reading lists, amongst other things, must be weighed up and balanced alongside the needs and requirements of the student. Evolution and Change.
Of course, with study costs increasing and places on courses often restricted, there can be tight competition and a number of financial issues involved in applying to educational institutions.

Nanotech-enhanced ‘smart paint' promises to detect structural damage

We've seen scientists explore a number of ways to make paint “smarter” over the years, and now a team of researchers at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow have devised a method that they say could do nothing short of “revolutionize structural safety.” The key to that is some novel nanotechnology that effectively turns the paint into a sensor network that's able to detect minor structural faults before they become a severe problem.

Verizon shared data plans may be coming soon

Verizon is apparently getting ready to intro something that will make those of you on family plans, or simply those with multiple lines on the same account very happy indeed. It turns out that shared data plans may be headed to Big Red, and they may be on their way to the market in the near future. Shared data plans are in theory exactly what they sound like: not needing to pay for a separate data plan for each line.

OWC Aura Pro Express 6G adds more storage and speed to the MacBook Air

One of the drawbacks to the MacBook Air would be its lack of storage capacity. However the lack of storage is made up for through the use of SSDs which allow for quicker read/write speeds, which ultimately results in speedy boot/resume times. However if you feel that your MacBook Air still lacks storage but you'd rather not resort to an external hard drive, OWC might have the answer for you in the form of their new OWC Aura Pro Express 6G 480GB SSD. According to the company, not only will the Aura Express 6G provide up to 8x more storage capacity, but supposedly will offer up 3x faster performance as well.

Tokyoflash reveals Sudoku-inspired concept watch

Fans of the game of Sudoku might enjoy this concept watch from the Tokyoflash Design Studio. As the rendering above might have already given it away, the Sudoku watch features a Sudoku interface that wearers can use to help tell the time. If you're not particularly adept at Sudoku, not to worry as the majority of the numbers have already been filled up, leaving six empty boxes for the hour, minutes and seconds. Based on Tokyoflash's instructions, the wearer just needs to fill in the empty boxes with the missing numbers and read it left to right to gauge the time.

The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee was the first home for Chrysler's Pentastar V6 engine. As you may recall, the powerplant was codenamed "Phoenix," and it was charged with replacing seven other engines in 11 models in the Chrysler and Dodge lineups. Along with it being a well-regarded piece of engineering, its sheer ubiquity goes a long way toward explaining how in just 18 months the Trenton, Michigan plant that produces it has cranked out a million of them. The 3.6-liter V6 is rated from 283 horsepower up to 305 hp, and can be found under the hood of front-, rear- and four-wheel drive vehicles in varying transmissions.

Upcoming Qualcomm MSM8960 GPU benchmark score surfaces

Qualcomm's upcoming 28nm based Snapdragon SoCs, codenamed Krait, are expected to arrive later this year. But a NenaMark 2 benchmark score on an unidentified device has leaked ahead of launch. In this benchmark, we see this unidentified device, probably just a reference unit, running the MSM8960 processor with the Adreno 225 graphics. The device has a display resolution of 1024 x 600, same as 7-inch tablets but despite the higher resolution, it posts a rather impressive score of 54.90 in NenaMark 2.

To put that number in perspective, we compared it to our own score of the Galaxy S II running the same benchmark.

Just in Q1, 2012 alone, Apple sold (not just shipped) 37 million iPhones, which is an astonishing figure whichever way you look at it. Compared to last year's figures, this year's figure is up by an amazing 128 percent. In the previous quarter, Apple managed to sell "just" 17 million iPhones, a number that has been bested by 117 percent, this quarter. This quarter's figure also eclipses Samsung's 35 million smartphone shipments (not sales) that they reported last quarter.
