Moto X For Verizon "Confirmed" For 23rd August Release

A little over a week ago, a rumor surfaced which suggested that the upcoming Moto X would see a "late August" release, and according to the sources of Droid-Life, it looks like Motorola and Verizon's plans have not changed. According to their source, they have essentially "reconfirmed" the fact that the Moto X will be launching on the 23rd of August, at least as far as Verizon's version of the device is concerned, and with only a day to go before the device is officially announced, we guess we won't have to wait too long to find out if the launch date is true.

With the announcement of any new Android device comes the hardcore tech crowd who only wants to know one thing: what kind of processor is powering it. By now, you're familiar with the Snapdragons, Exynos' and maybe even Apple's A line which have become a sort of household name in the mobile industry. But then came Motorola who threw everyone for a loop when they unveiled their own specially designed X8 chip, launching soon in the new line of DROIDs and rumored to come inside the Moto X.

Samsung outs dual-mode LTE Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini versions

Samsung has made big claims regarding its readiness to support developing LTE markets, and its most recent announcement of two new Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini variants supporting both FDD and TDD LTE networks confirms that sentiment. As global LTE coverage expands, many markets are adding support for TDD-LTE networks, particularly in places where FDD-LTE technology is already in place.

Mercedes S65 AMG to bow in LA, S600 in Detroit

Between the launch of the 2014 Mercedes S-Class, the debut of the S63 AMG (shown above) and reports about a new "super S-Class," the Mercedes-Benz flagship sedan has been in the news a lot lately. According to Car and Driver, Mercedes plans to introduce three new flavors of the latest S-Class at the Frankfurt, LA and Detroit auto shows. We already heard that the plug-in hybrid version will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but this new report says that the V12-powered S65 AMG and S600 models will soon follow.

Vibease Appears As Indiegogo Project

Sex sells, that goes without saying, but whether you do so in a tasteful manner or not is another question altogether. Vibease happens to be the world's first 'wearable smart vibrator' that has just launched on Indiegogo in order to gain enough funding from the general public and hopefully, the faith that the public shows in the idea will be translated to enough money collected so that this hands-free Bluetooth-enabled vibrator will become a reality.

Vaja Leather Grip Hardshell Case for iPhone 5 review

Vaja Leather Grip Hardshell Case for iPhone 5 review

This is the third case I recently received to try with my iPhone 5 from Vaja Cases.  The Leather Grip Hardshell Case for iPhone 5 is a leather-wrapped hard backcover case.  It's quite different from the Vaja flip-cover cases I recently review.  (Check the related links at the bottom of the review.)  This case is for the person who wants to protect the back and sides of their iPhone 5 while leaving the touchscreen completely uncovered.

M-Edge Stealth Pro Universal Keyboard Folio

M-Edge Stealth Pro Universal Keyboard Folio

When it comes to keyboard cases for the seemingly ubiquitous tablet, these are dime a dozen. Are there any other models out there which could change the way we look at this particular hardware genre. M-Edge might have the answer in the form of the Stealth Pro Universal Keyboard Folio, which happens to be an extremely slim as well as versatile universal keyboard case. The case itself will play nice with a slew of 7" as well as 10" tablets, where these will include (but are not limited to) the iPad, iPad mini, Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Kindle Fire HD 7 & 8.9.

European Nexus 7 no longer specified to support LTE

European Nexus 7 no longer specified to support LTE

One of the key additions to the second generation model of the Nexus 7 over its predecessor was the addition of LTE. Google's website clearly mentioned the presence of LTE on both the US as well as the European models, with support for the respective bands. If you were to visit the Nexus 7 specifications page now, however, you'd notice that it no longer mentions LTE bands for the European model. Whether this was just a mistake on the specifications page that was later corrected or Google cancelling plans on releasing the LTE model in the Europe is not yet known.

Asus Could Deliver Extremely Thin Tablet

Asus Could Deliver Extremely Thin Tablet

Do you remember a point in time when phones (this was in an age where smartphones do not yet exist, and Nokia was sitting pretty atop the mobile phone market with their ginormous share) started to become smaller and smaller in size, and if I am not mistaken, Panasonic did carry the tag of having the smallest phone in the world at one point in time, while Nokia and their collection of 88XX handsets dominated the high end phone scene. Well, it seems that the opposite has happened with smartphones – the bigger they get, the better they are, with phablets making quite a splash recently.

Chromecast support grows with Vimeo, Redbox Instant jumping on board, Plex remains optimistic

It was last week we gave you our Chromecast review and in case you missed it, we had mostly great things to say about Google's tiny dongle. One of the areas we weren't too excited about was a lack of real video casting supported by the Chromecast. Currently, only Netflix, YouTube, and Google Play Movies support streaming video content directly on the Chromecast (Chrome tabs don't count). We still kept our hopes up with Google announcing that Pandora, AOL, and Revision 3 were to be added in the near future.

Adorable Russian toddler knows her cars

This Russian two year old is sharp as a tack when it comes to knowing her car brands. Over the course of this video, she names nearly every brand she passes; impressive when there are plenty of adults who don't know an Audi from a Nissan. Another thing that's clear from the video, Mazda, BMW (all in a row!) and Hyundai are pretty popular brands in this little automotive whiz-kid's neighborhood.

World's lightest and thinnest circuits pave the way for 'imperceptible electronics'

Researchers from Asia and Europe have developed the world's lightest and thinnest organic circuits, which in the future could be used in a range of healthcare applications. Lighter than a feather, these ultrathin film-like organic transistor integrated circuits are being developed by a research group led by Professor Takao Someya and Associate Professor Tsuyoshi Sekitani of the University of Tokyo, who run an Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology (ERATO) program sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), in collaboration with Siegfried Bauer's group at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz, Austria.

When Apple first demonstrated Siri, it looked like Apple had a pretty awesome new feature in their hands, but unfortunately the rollout of Siri to the masses left a lot to be desired. BlackBerry 9720 Samoa Press Render Leaked

We did hear of the BlackBerry 9720 a few days ago, when it was called the BlackBerry Bold 9720 and shown off on a YouTube video. If you love a blast from the past, then the BlackBerry 9720, also known as the Samoa if codenames are part of your interest, is set to keep you excited. Why do we say that. Well, the BlackBerry 9720 Samoa is said to be running on the now obsolete BlackBerry 7 platform, where it will target those who happen to live in emerging markets, instead of mature markets that are always on the lookout for high end devices.

Halo TV Series Could Have Interactive Features

Halo TV Series Could Have Interactive Features

Microsoft did announce that they were developing a live action Halo television series earlier this year, and this collaboration would see the great Steven Spielberg come aboard as one of its executive producers. Apart from that reveal, Microsoft did lie low concerning the TV show, but it was some time this week that Nancy Tellem, president of Xbox Entertainment Studios, dropped two more hints concerning the Halo TV show as well as Microsoft's plans to develop an original TV series.

Acura to roll out NSX Prototype for Mid-Ohio IndyCar race

Acura will tease us yet again with its next-gen NSX when it makes an appearance at Mid-Ohio Raceway before the circuit's IndyCar race early next month. To be fair, the car's in-motion debut won't take the form of a production model – that's still a ways off – the vehicle will be a prototype. It'll be sporting custom graphics and an eye-catching paint (wrap?) job to draw the attention of the spectators, but really, we just want to hear this thing rounding the legendary road course at full chat.

Chromecast selling out? Netflix offer no longer available?

Discuss Chromecast on ChromeSpot's new Chromecast Forums. When Google announced the Chromecast yesterday, the company revealed that those who order the device would be entitled to three free months of Netflix streaming video service for new or existing customers, which is about $8 per month. That's a savings of $24, which effectively makes the Chromecast $11 if you were planning on taking advantage of it.
Unfortunately, it looks like something might be up. Folks have noticed that the Google Play Store listing for the Chromecast no longer makes mention of the Netflix offer.
