Watch Cadillac's new semi-autonomous Super Cruise in action

Cadillac is trying to make a name for itself on the safety and technology front, recently introducing its new Safety Alert Seat and outfitting new models with a suite of safety equipment that arguably puts it among the leaders in the industry. We got a chance to sample some of this last month, but we were also allowed to "drive" a semi-autonomous SRX test mule equipped with what Cadillac is calling "Super Cruise.". Nominally an improvement on adaptive cruise control, Super Cruise is actually a more sophisticated system that uses a camera communicating with the car's GPS to "see" the road ahead.

Guy Fieri's stolen Lamborghini found in teen's storage container

Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction. A Lamborghini stolen from celebrity chef Guy Fieri has been found a year after it first went missing. In case you need refreshing, the Lambo was pilfered by a thief who literally rappelled off the roof of a building in order to get access to the Italian Stallion. It seems the perpetrator had a thing for stealthy operations – the vehicle turned up during an investigation that began after a motorcyclist wearing all black fired a gun into a parked car.

KegDroid makes use of three essential technologies – Arduino, Android devices, and NFC – to create a smart rail of sorts. Using an NFC-enabled tag or badge, a user can simply tap the NFC reader with the badge and be authenticated to whatever beer they want.

Peter Jackson unfazed by 'Hobbit' footage pushback, but will stick to 24 fps for trailers

Calm down, cinema-goers. It just takes time to "settle in" to the strange new ultra-realistic world of high frame-rates, according to Peter Jackson, who's been responding to audience's rather strong panning of 48fps rough cuts from his upcoming 3D epic, Hobbit. Viewers' main beefs were the surprising appearance of the higher cadence footage, which almost looked like it was shot on video, as well as blemishes on actors and sets which were all-too-visible without the crutch of motion blur.

Digital Storm has announced that its premium-priced (and not so premium-priced) gaming PCs will soon be touting Ivy Bridge processors. This means, going forward, all machines will come with the Intel's third generation Core architecture, with the PC maker already claiming it's managed overclocks at 4.8GHz. When Steve Wozniak talks mobile, people love to listen. Last time we checked in, he was lauding some of Android's finer points, and now he's raining praise on Windows Phone. In an interview with A New Domain, the Apple co-founder was all too happy to share his recent positive experiences with the Espoo / Redmond collaboration. He goes on to say how there's nothing he's seen that isn't more beautiful (than iOS and Android) on the Windows system, before claiming Android is "no contest" when it comes to the interface.

Apple once toyed with physical keyboards for the first iPhone

Apple once toyed with physical keyboards for the first iPhone

The QWERTY keyboard design was considered by Apple after all.  But that was a long time ago. According to Tony Fadell, an ex-Apple executive and a revered iPod guru, when they developed the first iPhone in January 2007, they actually entertained the idea of  using a physical keyboard, instead of the then-new multitouch design that was a game changer. Tony said that Apple narrowed down the original design to three prototypes: one was an iPod-phone hybrid, another was an undisclosed iPhone design, and of course the final design that was applied to the first generation iPhone.

You wouldn't think $7.7 million is something to complain about, but then again, you're probably not in the running to be CEO of General Motors. Despite the fact that GM is no longer the largest company in the world – or, depending on whom you ask, even the largest carmaker – it's a big job. On most days, we imagine it's a pretty thankless one too. So when you compare the salary of GM CEO Dan Akerson to that of his cross-town rival at Ford, perhaps $7.7 million does seem like chump change compared to Alan Mullaly's 2011 compensation of $29.5 million.
