Well, it's hardly a secret that customers are unhappy with Apple's new mapping solution in iOS 6. And, while the company has admitted that, perhaps, it's not quite up to snuff yet, it has played down Maps' flaws and urged customers to be patient. Today, in an open letter to the Apple faithful, Tim Cook struck a far more candid and conciliatory tone, apologizing for failing to deliver a "world-class" product. Cook went so far as to suggest that unhappy customers could check out offerings from competitors like Bing, MapQuest, Google and Nokia - at least until Cupertino sorts this mess out.

Apple's just announced that they've sold over 5 million iPhone 5 units between Friday and Sunday. Is that an impressive number. Is that number that will make invest firms short Apple stock. Does the answer lie somewhere in the middle.
Let's look at the last iPhone, the 4S, to get some perspective. Apple sold 4 million of those during the device's opening weekend. Now an extra million with the iPhone 5 sure does sound good, but then again the 4S launched in 7 countries, whereas the iPhone 5 launched in two additional markets, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Financially, Nokia is in bad shape. It lost a billion dollars last quarter, which is only good news when you look at the quarter before that, which shows a $1.7 billion loss. Despite all this, Christof Hellmis, VP Location Platform at Nokia, doesn't seem to be the least bit concerned. AT&T intros new LTE devices: Samsung Galaxy Express, Galaxy Rugby Pro, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

AT&T has just announced the upcoming launch of three new LTE-capable Android devices manufactured by Samsung: two smartphones, and a tablet. The first smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy Express (pictured below). This will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, featuring a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus display of unknown resolution, 5MP rear camera, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and a 2,000 mAh battery.

'Dirty USSD' code could automatically wipe your Samsung TouchWiz device

The Factory Reset. One of those last ditch efforts that many of us have a fair bit of experience with. However, a malicious embed code could potentially do the exact same thing to your Galaxy S III. The Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code (which we won't reproduce here) apparently only works on Samsung phones running Touchwiz, and only if you are directed to the dodgy destination while inside the stock browser (rather than Chrome, for example). This means the Galaxy Nexus is unaffected, but it can work the same dark magic on the likes of the Galaxy S II.

The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray officially set for December 4th, limited edition Bat Cowl revealed (Update)

After false starting a couple of weeks ago, the Blu-ray trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is back, and Entertainment Weekly has heard from Warner Bros. that December 4th is the official release date. Also on display from EW is this limited edition Bat Cowl packaging which will be available at launch. While there's not a full spec list, extras will include a Batmobile-focused documentary and more than a dozen featurettes about going behind the scenes of the movie with Christopher Nolan and his team. Nokia Lumia 920, 820 get official European prices, launching in November

The optical nous of the Lumia 920 won't just be visiting Australia soon. Nokia has revealed that its Windows Phone 8 flagship will arrive in Europe priced at 649 euros ($836), while the Lumia 820 will arrive several hundred euros cheaper at 499 euros ($643). Both will arrive in Italy and Germany some time in November, although the company weren't pointing to any specific launch date just yet. Further east, Russian Nokia fans can already put in their preorder, with the devices there arriving at some point in Q4.

Apple's A6 iPhone 5 SoC integrates triple-core GPU

After an analysis and high-resolution diffusion images taken of the A6 die, UBM Insights believes that the chip is being manufactured by Samsung in a 28 nm process. AnandTech further showed an image that suggests that Apple is using three PowerVR SGX 543MP3 GPU cores at 266 MHz. There was no information whether the ARM cores are based on ARM's Cortex-A15 or the previous Cortex-A9. However, Apple promised twice the performance of the preceding A5, which is a hint that the switch to the A15 has been made.
