Koenigsegg shows off customization chops with Agera R BLT

The 1,185-horsepower Koenigsegg Agera R costs $2 million. Still, those who enter the seven-figure club are known to spend far more than mere MSRP because they can't risk their multimillion-dollar car being just like someone else's multimillion-dollar car. That's why Koenigsegg has a customization division called BLT. We don't know what that stands for, but are fairly certain it has nothing to do with delicious sandwiches.
To showcase the level of available customization, we present this Koenigsegg Agera R BLT. Built for a customer in China, its carbon body is tinted blue and set off with red pinstriping.

Nokia Releases Asha 308, Asha 309 Handsets in Emerging Markets

“If you can't beat ‘em, join ‘em.” That's what the saying goes. But in the case of Nokia surviving in the tough mobile phone market, it sounds like, “If you can't beat them, find another niche.” With Nokia taking a beating trying to compete against the like of the iPhone and Samsung in the tough smartphone market, it has actually done well in trying to continue making its presence felt in emerging markets where the high end smartphones are not that popular. This is where Nokia is introducing its new addition to its Asha line of phones, the Asha 308 and the Asha 309.

2013 Kia Carens is a stylish Rondo redux

Hey, remember the Rondo. The tall Kia hatchback never really caught on here in the United States, but in Europe – where all sorts of funky five-doors flourish – the Rondo (sorry, Carens) has enjoyed respectable success. At least, enough that Kia has completely redesigned its people-carrier for 2013, bringing it more in line with the stylish new design direction of the brand's entire lineup. Kia says that the Carens rides on an all-new platform that features a cab-forward design and a longer wheelbase to accommodate both five- and seven-passenger seating configurations.

Nintendo Wii U will reportedly be region-locked

One of the downside to some of Nintendo's games is that they are usually released for the Japanese market first before making its way into English-speaking countries. Granted some gamers don't mind waiting, but for fans of the franchise this can be particularly frustrating. Now if you thought that by importing those games you might be able to work around the wait, even if means the game has not been translated, you'd be out of luck as apparently the upcoming Nintendo Wii U will be region-locked.

Tim Cook apologizes for Maps mess

Well, it's hardly a secret that customers are unhappy with Apple's new mapping solution in iOS 6. And, while the company has admitted that, perhaps, it's not quite up to snuff yet, it has played down Maps' flaws and urged customers to be patient. Today, in an open letter to the Apple faithful, Tim Cook struck a far more candid and conciliatory tone, apologizing for failing to deliver a "world-class" product. Cook went so far as to suggest that unhappy customers could check out offerings from competitors like Bing, MapQuest, Google and Nokia - at least until Cupertino sorts this mess out.

Apple sold 5 million iPhone 5s over the weekend. What should we make of this number?

Apple's just announced that they've sold over 5 million iPhone 5 units between Friday and Sunday. Is that an impressive number. Is that number that will make invest firms short Apple stock. Does the answer lie somewhere in the middle.
Let's look at the last iPhone, the 4S, to get some perspective. Apple sold 4 million of those during the device's opening weekend. Now an extra million with the iPhone 5 sure does sound good, but then again the 4S launched in 7 countries, whereas the iPhone 5 launched in two additional markets, Singapore and Hong Kong.

For Nokia, helping the competition find its way is good business

Financially, Nokia is in bad shape. It lost a billion dollars last quarter, which is only good news when you look at the quarter before that, which shows a $1.7 billion loss. Despite all this, Christof Hellmis, VP Location Platform at Nokia, doesn't seem to be the least bit concerned. In fact, he's rather chipper as he sits down with us at this year's Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris. Perhaps that's because his division, Location & Commerce, is doing quite well indeed. Containing the remains of Navteq, L&C pulled down nearly €100 million profits in each of the past two quarters.

Alibaba purchased half of Yahoo's stake

Earlier in February this year, there was talk about Alibaba picking up Yahoo, but that did not materialize. Well, we do know that Alibaba is one the larger companies in China that can be considered to be a market leader, and they have just purchased back half the stake that Yahoo Inc. owned in the company, forking out approximately $7.6 billion in the process, which would also be a strategic move in helping them edge closer towards the possibility of floating Alibaba on the stock market via an initial public offering.

'Dirty USSD' code could automatically wipe your Samsung TouchWiz device

The Factory Reset. One of those last ditch efforts that many of us have a fair bit of experience with. However, a malicious embed code could potentially do the exact same thing to your Galaxy S III. The Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code (which we won't reproduce here) apparently only works on Samsung phones running Touchwiz, and only if you are directed to the dodgy destination while inside the stock browser (rather than Chrome, for example). This means the Galaxy Nexus is unaffected, but it can work the same dark magic on the likes of the Galaxy S II.

Sound Taxi composes music from London city buzz, doesn't even take a fare

What you see above isn't just another shameless car stereo project, but a black cab that turns the hustle and bustle of city noise into music. The Sound Taxi toured London last week collecting ambient sound pollution with a roof-mounted mic, recycling it through production software and then pumping out real-time mixes on its army of speakers and horns. The mobile disco was a collaboration between headphone company AiAiAi and Yuri Suzuki, with Mark McKeague providing the back-end wizardry which turned clamor into samples into tracks.

Building on the introduction of the GranCabrio MC that debuted at the Paris Motor Show, Maserati is planning three new models over the next couple of year in an attempt to raise sales to 50,000 units annually by 2015. While we think that that is a pretty lofty goal for a boutique automaker, redesigning its flagship sedan and adding two all-new models in popular segments sounds like a great plan of attack. The first new car we'll see from the Italian automaker is the next generation of the Quattroporte which will be a fitting way to celebrate the car's golden anniversary.

Twitter CEO reveals plans for interactive tweets, content curation, reinforces belief in syndication

Twitter has ruffled a few feathers recently, so when CEO Dick Costolo took the stage at the Online News Association conference in San Francisco, he took the opportunity to put some minds at rest. First he dismissed the idea that the service would become a media company by forcing users to the site or official app for content, before reasserting his belief in syndication. Costolo then went on to imply that the reason behind the tighter (and unpopular) API controls was ensuring quality — stating that Twitter would reach its full potential now there's more control over how tweets are delivered.
