Hawaii intends to pursue their rather ambitious goal of obtaining 70% of their energy needs from renewable sources by the time 2030 rolls around, and this would mean working on plenty of stable geothermal and biomass power, not to mention taking advantage of something that they have in abundance – wind power. After all, their resources in this department of natural energy is impressive, but variability of the wind proved to be a rather hard puzzle to solve.
