Google is moving beyond Fiber. The Internet and technology behemoth is announcing today that it has acquired wireless Internet network provider ICOA for $400 million. To those new to ICOA, the company is actually a provider of wireless and wired broadband Internet networks in high-traffic public locations such as airports, marinas, restaurants, apartment buildings, and retail businesses in the U.S. As of January 1, 2006, ICOA owns or operates over 1,500 broadband access installations in high-traffic locations across 45 states.
