Europe is in a tough financial situation and Apple's shrinking market share despite the introduction of the iPhone 4S is a consequence of that. In markets like the US, the UK and Australia, the 4S is selling like hot cakes but continental Europe is another story. Analysts from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech noted that Apple's market share in France has slipped over the last quarter (from 29% to 20%) and the same thing has happened in Germany (27% to 22%), Italy and Spain too.
For comparison, Apple's market share in the US grew from 25% to 36% over the period of a year.
