Netherrealm Studios puts Mortal Kombat on hiatus

If you love fighting or action games, or if you've been playing console games for a long time, you're probably pretty familiar with the Mortal Kombat franchise. The game was recently awarded the title of the best fighting game of 2011 at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, and if you were looking forward to more "best fighting game" goodness, you'll be in for a disappointment. According to developer Netherrealm Studios' head Ed Boon, the studio is taking a hiatus from the Mortal Kombat franchise to work on a different project. What this also means is that no additional DLC for the recent Mortal Kombat will be released either.
